Lóng Xuè Jié (Dragon‘s Blood) is a Chinese medicinal substance. It is a resin extracted from the resinous wood of Dracaena cochinchinensis (Lour.) S. C. Chen, a plant of the genus Dracaena (family Liliaceae). It appears as irregular pieces or flakes, reddish-brown to dark brown in color, with a glossy surface, brittle texture, a distinctive faint fragrance, and a bland, slightly astringent taste.

Promotes blood circulation, removes blood stasis, relieves pain, stops bleeding, promotes wound healing, and regenerates tissue.

Indications

Primarily used for traumatic injuries, pain due to blood stasis, qi and blood stagnation in women, external bleeding, and non-healing purulent sores. It is also used for ischemic heart disease, acute myocardial infarction, anorectal diseases, diabetes, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, and pressure ulcers (bedsores), among other conditions. Additionally, it can be used for hemoptysis, cough with bleeding, hematemesis, epistaxis, hematuria, bloody stool, metrorrhagia, asthma, dysentery, and infantile malnutrition (childhood wasting disorder), among others.

Ingredients

Phenols: These are the main active components, including flavonoid compounds such as chalcones, dihydrochalcones, flavonoids, flavans, polymeric flavonoids, and chromones. Usage & Dosage

Oral Administration: 3–6g. Topical Application: Appropriate amount.

Contraindications

Contraindicated during pregnancy. Use with caution in women during menstruation and lactation. Children, the elderly, and debilitated individuals should use it under the guidance of a physician. Patients with severe chronic conditions such as hypertension, heart disease, liver disease, diabetes, or kidney disease should use it under the guidance of a physician. Contraindicated for individuals allergic to this product; use with caution in those with a history of allergies. Avoid raw, cold, and greasy foods. Selected Formulas

For traumatic swelling and pain (empirical formula) Take 1g of Longxuejie (Dragon's blood) and 2g of Tianqi (Notoginseng), grind into powder, and take with yellow wine. For epistaxis (empirical formula) Take equal parts of Longxuejie and Puhuang (Cattail pollen), grind into powder, and blow into the nostrils. For tendon and bone injuries with blood stasis and swelling (empirical formula) Take 11g of Longxuejie, grind into powder, mix with yellow wine, and apply externally. For chest blood masses (Zhaixuan Fang) Take 1 liang each of Xuejie (Dragon's blood), Moyao (Myrrh), Huashi (Talc), and Mudanpi (Moutan bark). Decoct together, then grind into powder, mix with vinegar paste to form pills the size of waxberry seeds, and take on an empty stomach. For non-healing sores (Jiuyuan Fang) Take 1 zi of Xuejie powder, a little Longnao (Borneol), and 0.5 qian of Dazao (red date) burned to ash. Grind together, mix with saliva, and apply. For rheumatic bi-pain, sinew and bone pain, and muscle contracture (Qixiao Liangfang, Dashen Xiao Huoluo Dan) Take Xuejie together with Ruxiang (Frankincense) and Moyao (Myrrh), and other ingredients. Make into pills and take.

Daily Consumption

Longxuejie Powder for Oral Administration: Take 1.2g each time with wine or warm water, 4–5 times daily.
