É Róng Téng (Cynanchum chinense) is a Chinese medicinal herb. It refers to the white latex from the stems and the roots of Cynanchum chinense R. Br., a plant of the Asclepiadaceae (Apocynaceae) family. It is named “É Róng Téng” (Goose Down Vine) because the whole plant is covered with short soft hairs, giving it a fluffy texture like goose down, and its stems are twining.

Indications
Used for pediatric food stagnation, infantile malnutrition (childhood wasting disorder), gastritis, duodenal ulcer, nephritis edema, and common warts. Root: Dispels wind, detoxifies, strengthens the stomach, and relieves pain. Used for pediatric food stagnation. Latex: Resolves stasis and detoxifies. Used for common warts (verruca).

Usage & Dosage
Oral Administration: Decoction, the standard dosage is 15g. Topical Application: Appropriate amount, apply the latex to the affected area.
Contraindications
Use with caution in patients with spleen-stomach deficiency-cold: As this herb is bitter and cold in nature, it may aggravate cold patterns in the spleen and stomach, potentially causing adverse reactions such as abdominal pain and diarrhea.
Selected Formulas
For postpartum agalactia in female livestock (Gansu, Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine – Yang Zhongqi Experience Collection) Take appropriate amounts of Yangluomanjiao (a local herb), Tuziman (a local herb), Wangbuliuxing (Vaccaria seed), Dangshen (Codonopsis), Danggui (Angelica), and Gancao (Licorice). Decoct in water to extract the liquid, mix with feed, and administer. For infantile food stagnation (empirical formula) Take about 15g (5 qian) of Erongteng (Cynanchum chinense) root. Decoct in water and drink. For verruca (common warts) (empirical formula) Take the white latex from the fresh stem of Erongteng and apply to the affected area several times.
Daily Consumption
Decoction for oral use: Take 15g of É Róng Téng root, decoct it in water, and drink the liquid. It may be used as an adjunctive treatment for pediatric food stagnation, infantile malnutrition (childhood wasting disorder), gastritis, and other related conditions. Topical application: Apply the fresh white latex from the stem of É Róng Téng directly to common warts (verruca) on the affected area. Repeat several times until resolved
