Bái Bǔ Yào is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb. It is the whole plant of Salvia scapiformis Hance var. hirsuta Stib., a plant belonging to the family Lamiaceae. This plant is an annual herb, 20–30 cm tall. Bái Bǔ Yào was first recorded in Guizhou Herbal Medicine.

Usage & Dosage

For oral administration: decoct in water, 15–30 g; or steep in wine for consumption.

Selected Formulas

For weakness, emaciation, dizziness, and blurred vision (empirical formula) Take 30g of Baibuyao (a local herb), stew with meat and consume. For chronic strain with pain (empirical formula) Take 30g of Baibuyao, soak in wine and drink.

Daily Consumption

Decoction for oral administration: Take 15–30 g of Bái Bǔ Yào, decoct in water, strain, and drink the liquid. Wine infusion: Take 30 g of Bái Bǔ Yào, steep it in white wine to make a medicinal wine, and consume in moderation. Stewed with meat: Take 30 g of Bái Bǔ Yào, stew it together with meat, and consume.
