Bái Bèi Fēng is a traditional Chinese medicinal material. It is the whole plant of Buddleja asiatica Lour., a plant belonging to the genus Buddleja of the family Loganiaceae. This plant is an evergreen small shrub, 1–1.5 meters tall, with quadrangular young branches.

Dispels wind, promotes diuresis, promotes Qi flow, and activates blood circulation.
Indications
Indicated for postpartum wind-type headache in women, stomach cold pain, rheumatoid arthralgia, traumatic injuries, and fractures. For external use, it treats skin itching, scrotal eczema, and undefined toxic swellings.

Antibacterial effects. Antihypertensive effects. Hypoglycemic effects. Antioxidant effects. Neuroprotective effects. Anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects: Triterpenoids and ellagic acid derivatives found in the alcohol extract exhibit anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.

Usage & Dosage
For oral administration: decoct in water, 9–15 g (3–5 qián). May also be steeped in wine for consumption. For external use: apply an appropriate amount, decocted in water for washing the affected area.
Contraindications
Contraindicated during pregnancy. Use with caution during menstruation. Use with caution in patients with bleeding tendencies. Avoid consuming together with spicy foods such as chili and pepper, as well as alcohol. This product is slightly toxic and should be used under the guidance of a physician.
Selected Formulas
There are currently few well-documented formulas specifically for Bái Bèi Fēng. In folk and clinical practice, it is commonly used in combination with other herbs or taken alone as a decoction. It may also be used in medicinal wine formulations.
Daily Consumption
Wine infusion for oral administration: May be steeped in white wine to make a medicinal wine, and consumed in moderation.

The roots, stems with leaves, and fruits are all used medicinally.
