Bái Bèi Xiǎo Bào Chūn is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb. It is the whole plant of Primula hypoleuca Hand.-Mazz. [also known as P. forbesii Franch. subsp. hypoleuca (Hand.-Mazz.) W.W. Smith et Forr.], a plant belonging to the family Primulaceae. This plant is a perennial herb, entirely glabrous, with a short rhizome and numerous thick roots. The leaves are oblong or elliptic, 15–45 mm long and 10–25 mm wide, with undulate shallowly lobed margins and densely covered with white powder on the underside, which gives the plant its name “White-backed” (Bái Bèi). It flowers in April, with pink corollas.
