Ǎi Liǔ Chuān Yú (Dwarf Linaria) is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb. It is the dried whole plant of Linaria buriatica Tarcz. et Benth., a plant belonging to the family Scrophulariaceae. This plant is a perennial herb, only 8–20 cm tall, much branched from the base, often prostrate-spreading in growth habit. The leaves are alternate, needle-shaped to narrowly linear. The racemes are terminal, with yellow, spurred corollas.

Clears heat and promotes diuresis; detoxifies and reduces swelling.

Indications

It is primarily used for damp-heat jaundice, erysipelas, sore throat, and mouth ulcers.

Modern Pharmacology

Modern studies have shown that it possesses a variety of pharmacological activities, including antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, hypoglycemic, lipid-lowering, antioxidant, analgesic, sedative, hepatoprotective, diuretic, antitussive and expectorant, and anti-allergic effects. Its 10% infusion has shown central inhibitory effects and blood pressure-lowering activity in animal experiments.

Ingredients

It contains flavonoids, triterpenoids, alkaloids, organic acids, sugars, volatile oils, and others. Among these, flavonoids are one of the main components.

Usage & Dosage

For oral administration: decoct in water, 10–15 g.

Contraindications

Pregnant women should use with caution. Patients with Spleen-Stomach deficiency cold should use with caution. Those with allergic predisposition should use with caution. It should not be used long-term or in excessive amounts, so as to avoid gastrointestinal discomfort or allergic reactions.

Daily Consumption
