Gǒu Chǐ (Dog‘s Tooth) is a traditional Chinese medicinal material. It is the tooth of Canis familiaris Linnaeus, an animal belonging to the family Canidae. This medicinal material was first recorded in Mingyi Bielu (Records of Famous Physicians).
Efficacy & Actions
Calms convulsions, dispels wind, and detoxifies. It is also recorded as relieving epilepsy.
Indications
Indicated for epilepsy, wind-heat, infantile convulsions, carbuncles, and other conditions.
Usage & Dosage
For oral administration: burn to preserve its properties, grind into powder, and take 0.3–1.5 g. For external use: apply an appropriate amount, burn to preserve its properties, grind into powder, and mix for topical application.
Contraindications
Contraindicated during pregnancy.
