Ganoderma tenue Zhao, Xu et Zhang
Aliases：Dān Zhī (literally "Single Mushroom"), Mì Wén Líng Zhī (literally "Dense‑pattern Lingzhi"), and Lǎo Mù Jūn (literally "Old Wood Fungus"). (These are alternative names for Mì Wén Bó Zhī, i.e., Ganoderma tenue.)
Mì Wén Bó Zhī (Miwen Bozhi) is a traditional Chinese medicinal material. It is the fruiting body of the fungus Ganoderma tenue Zhao, Xu et Zhang, belonging to the family Polyporaceae. It grows on wood and is primarily artificially cultivated, with Beijing being the main production area. It is recorded in Zhonghua Bencao (Chinese Materia Medica).

Indications
Neurasthenia, palpitations, insomnia, and acute and chronic hepatitis.
Modern Pharmacology
Sedative effect: Animal studies have shown that this product reduces spontaneous activity and prolongs the action time of barbiturate drugs, exerting a sedative effect on the central nervous system. It exhibits a slightly stronger sedative effect than Ganoderma lucidum. Anticholinergic effect: It reduces pilocarpine-induced salivation, indicating an anticholinergic (muscarinic) effect. Hepatoprotective effect: It can significantly lower serum transaminase levels and has been shown to improve liver function and alleviate symptoms in patients with acute and chronic hepatitis. Anticonvulsant effect. Antioxidant effect. Antitumor effect.

Usage & Dosage
For oral administration: decoct in water, 3–9 g; or grind into powder and take with water.
Contraindications
Use with caution in patients with Yin deficiency and fire hyperactivity.

For neurasthenia (empirical formula) Take 30g of Miwen Bozhi (a local herb), 15g of stir‑fried Suanzaoren (Ziziphus seed), 10g of Wuweizi (Schisandra fruit), 10g of Yuanzhi (Polygala root), 15g of Suanzaoren, and 10g of Gancao (Licorice). Decoct in water and take one dose daily. For chronic hepatitis (empirical formula) Take 30g of Miwen Bozhi, 30g of Yinchenhao, 10g of Dahuang, 10g of Huanglian, 30g of Danshen, 15g of Chishao, 10g of Chaihu, 15g of Baishao, and 10g of Gancao. Decoct in water and take one dose daily.
