Dì Méi Zǐ is a traditional Chinese medicinal material. It is the dried root of Rubus xanthocarpus Bur. et Franch., a plant belonging to the family Rosaceae. The root appears as irregular slices or segments, with a grayish‑brown or brown surface and longitudinal wrinkles. It is hard in texture. The odor is faint, and the taste is bland. It is recorded in Shaanxi Zhongcaoyao (Shaanxi Chinese Herbal Medicine).

Indications
Wind‑fire sore eyes, red, swollen and painful eyes, sores and toxic swellings, conjunctivitis, blepharitis, and unnamed toxic swellings.
Usage & Dosage
Appropriate amount, mashed for application; or decocted in water for fumigation and washing. Fresh herb: take an appropriate amount of fresh herb, decocted in water for washing, or mashed for external application.
Contraindications
Not for oral use: Dì Méi Zǐ should generally not be taken internally, as it may cause discomfort. Avoid spicy foods during use: Such as chili peppers, which may affect the efficacy.

For conjunctivitis and blepharitis (Shaanxi Chinese Herbal Medicine) Take an appropriate amount of fresh Dimeizi (a local herb), decoct in water, and use the liquid to fumigate and wash the affected eyes. For unnamed toxic swellings (Shaanxi Chinese Herbal Medicine) Take an appropriate amount of fresh Dimeizi, crush and apply externally to the affected area.
