Gāo Shān Qín Gēn (Gaoshan Qin Gen Root) is a traditional Chinese medicinal material. It is the dried root of Coelopleurum saxatile (Turcz.) Drde (also known as Angelica saxatilis Turcz.), a plant belonging to the family Apiaceae. It grows under coniferous forests or in moist areas on mountain slopes at altitudes above 1,900 meters.

Usage & Dosage

For oral administration: decoct in water, 3–9 g; it is also recorded as 3–6 g in some sources.

Daily Consumption

Gaoshan Qin Gen Root Congee: Use 30 g of Gaoshan Qin Gen Root and 100 g of polished round‑grained rice. Decoct the root in water, strain to remove the residue, and add the liquid to the rice to cook into congee. Take one dose daily, divided into two portions. This congee strengthens the spleen, harmonizes the stomach, promotes digestion, and resolves food stagnation. It is used for Spleen‑Stomach weakness, indigestion, poor appetite, and abdominal distension. Gaoshan Qin Gen Root Tea: Use 30 g of Gaoshan Qin Gen Root. Decoct in water, strain, and drink the liquid as a tea substitute. This tea regulates qi, strengthens the stomach, promotes digestion, and resolves food stagnation. It is used for abdominal distension, poor appetite, and indigestion.
