Qìyè Cǎo (Maple‑leaf Grass) is a traditional Chinese medicinal material. It is the whole herb of Mukdenia rossii (Oliv.) Koidz., a plant belonging to the family Saxifragaceae. It commonly grows on rocky cliffs in valleys near water.

Modern Pharmacology
Slowing heart rate: Qìyècǎo has the effect of slowing the heartbeat and can be used to treat tachycardia. According to the Xinhua Bencao Gangyao (New Compendium of Materia Medica): "The whole herb has the effect of slowing the heartbeat. It is used for tachycardia." Regulating blood lipids and antioxidant effects: Qìyècǎo contains flavonoids and has been shown in animal experiments to improve antioxidant capacity in hyperlipidemic rats.
Usage & Dosage
For oral administration: decoct in water, the usual dosage is 9–15 g.
