Apple Yogurt
Apple Yogurt is a simple and quick healthy dessert or meal replacement snack, made with fresh apples and yogurt as the main ingredients, often enhanced with honey, cranberries, or other toppings. Apples are cool in nature, sweet and sour in taste, and channel to the Spleen and Stomach meridians. They are known for promoting salivation, quenching thirst, moistening the lungs, relieving restlessness, and strengthening the spleen and stomach. Yogurt is neutral in nature, sweet and sour in taste, and channels to the Heart, Lung, and Stomach meridians. Rich in active probiotics and high-quality protein, it is known for regulating gut flora and promoting digestion. Together, apples provide dietary fiber and vitamins, while yogurt provides protein and probiotics, achieving the combined effects of moistening the intestines, relieving constipation, stimulating appetite, aiding digestion, and supplementing nutrition. The finished product has a rich texture, with the crispness of apples perfectly balanced by the smoothness of yogurt. This dish is especially suitable for daily consumption by those with poor digestion, constipation, and those needing nutritional supplementation, and is also an ideal snack for fitness enthusiasts.

Main Ingredients
- Apple 1 piece (approx. 200-250g)
- Yogurt (plain unsweetened preferred) Approx. 160-200g (0.8x the weight of peeled and cored apple)
- Honey 1 tbsp (approx. 15ml)
- Dried cranberries A handful
- Cinnamon powder 1/2 tbsp
- Lemon juice A few drops(prevents oxidation)
Steps
Wash the apple, peel it, remove the core, and cut into small chunks or dices. The size of the apple pieces can be adjusted to preference — larger pieces offer more texture, while smaller pieces blend more easily with the yogurt.

Place the chopped apple into a bowl, add the yogurt, and add honey if using.

Stir well and serve. If adding dried cranberries, chopped nuts, or other toppings, sprinkle them on top after mixing.

TCM Notes
Traditional Chinese Medicine Perspective: Apple: Sweet and slightly sour, cool, channels to the Spleen and Stomach. Promotes salivation, quenches thirst, clears heat, relieves restlessness, strengthens the spleen, stops diarrhea, and moistens the intestines. Apples have a bidirectional regulatory effect — they can both stop diarrhea and relieve constipation. Yogurt: Sweet and sour, neutral, channels to the Heart, Lung, and Stomach. Promotes digestion, regulates gut flora, and supplements nutrition. Modern Nutrition Research: Laxative effect: Pectin (soluble dietary fiber) in apples promotes the proliferation of probiotics, which, combined with the active probiotics in yogurt, regulates gut flora and promotes intestinal motility. Appetite stimulation and digestion: Malic acid in apples promotes food digestion, while yogurt promotes gastric juice secretion. Together, they relieve poor appetite and indigestion. Nutritional supplementation: Apples provide vitamin C, dietary fiber, and various minerals; yogurt provides high-quality protein, calcium, and active probiotics. Vitamin C also aids calcium absorption. Weight management support: Fiber in apples increases satiety, while protein and probiotics in yogurt accelerate metabolism. Immunity enhancement: Vitamin C from apples and probiotics from yogurt work synergistically to boost immunity.
