Jiang Banxia (Ginger‑Processed Pinellia Rhizome) is a prepared form of Chinese medicinal herb. It is produced from the dried tuber of Pinellia ternata (Thunb.) Breit. (family Araceae) through a series of processing steps including cleaning, soaking in water, and boiling with alum and fresh ginger (using ginger decoction). It is mainly produced in Sichuan, Hubei, Henan, Anhui, and Guizhou provinces.

It mainly has the actions of warming the middle to transform phlegm, and directing rebellious qi downward to stop vomiting.
Indications
Jiang Banxia is mainly used for the treatment of phlegm‑fluid vomiting and gastric stuffiness (epigastric and abdominal fullness), among other conditions.

Modern pharmacological studies have found that this product has antitussive, expectorant, and antiemetic effects, among others.

Decoction: 3–9 g; or used in pills or powders.
Contraindications
Herb‑herb incompatibilities: This product should not be used together with Chuanwu, processed Chuanwu, Caowu, processed Caowu, or Fuzi (Aconite roots). Use with caution in liver dysfunction: Patients with abnormal liver function tests should use this herb cautiously under the guidance of a physician. Interactions with Western medications: Avoid concomitant use with atropine or other M‑cholinergic receptor blockers. When combined with sedatives, the dosage should not be excessive. Dietary advice: During the course of medication, light and easily digestible foods are recommended. Spicy and irritating foods should be avoided. Monitoring: Regular monitoring of urinalysis, liver function, and kidney function is advised during treatment.

Daily Consumption
Decoction: Take 3–9 g of Jiang Banxia (ginger‑processed Pinellia tuber), decoct together with other herbs. It must be decocted first or for an extended period (at least 30 minutes) to reduce toxicity. Combined with fresh ginger and Poria: Enhances the actions of warming the middle to transform phlegm and directing rebellious qi downward to stop vomiting. Used for phlegm‑fluid vomiting.
