Rubi Fructus

Fù Pén Zǐ (Palmleaf Raspberry Fruit) is a Chinese medicinal herb. It is the unripe fruit of Rubus chingii Hu, a plant of the Rosaceae family.

Indications
Kidney deficiency with insecurity: Spermatorrhea, seminal emission, enuresis, frequent urination, impotence, premature ejaculation, and post-void dribbling (residual urine). Liver-kidney deficiency: Blurred vision, dim eyesight, and premature greying of hair and beard.
Modern Pharmacology
Regulation of the reproductive system: Exhibits the effect of regulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis function. Antioxidant and anti-aging effects: Possesses significant antioxidant and anti-aging activities. Other activities: Also exhibits anti-inflammatory, antitumor, hypoglycemic, hepatoprotective, and learning and memory-improving effects, among others.
Ingredients
It mainly contains flavonoids (such as catechin), phenolic acids (such as ellagic acid), terpenoids, polysaccharides, coumarins, trace elements, and others. The Chinese Pharmacopoeia stipulates that the content of ellagic acid in this product shall not be less than 0.20%.
Usage & Dosage
Oral Administration: Decoction, 6–12g.
Contraindications
During the course of taking Fù Pén Zǐ (Palmleaf Raspberry Fruit), it is advisable to maintain a light diet and avoid spicy, greasy, raw, and cold foods, as they may interfere with the medicinal effects. It should be used strictly according to the dosage recommended by a physician or as indicated on the product label. Overdose should be avoided. Individuals who are allergic to Fù Pén Zǐ should avoid using it.

For Kidney Deficiency with Enuresis and Frequent Urination (Empirical Formula) Take Fù Pén Zǐ together with Sāng Piāo Xiāo (Mantis Egg-case), Yì Zhì Rén (Alpinia Fruit), and Bǔ Gǔ Zhī (Psoralea Fruit). Decoct in water or prepare as pills for oral administration. For Liver-Kidney Deficiency with Blurred Vision and Dim Eyesight (Empirical Formula) Take Fù Pén Zǐ together with Gǒu Qǐ Zǐ (Goji Berry), Sāng Shèn Zǐ (Mulberry Fruit), and Tù Sī Zǐ (Cuscuta Seed). Decoct in water or prepare as pills for oral administration. For Securing Essence and Reducing Urination (Empirical Formula) Take Fù Pén Zǐ combined with Shā Yuàn Zǐ (Flatstem Milkvetch Seed), Jīn Yīng Zǐ (Cherokee Rose Fruit), and Shān Zhū Yú (Cornus Fruit). For kidney-deficiency spermatorrhea, impotence, and infertility (Wuzi Yanzong Wan) Take Fupenzi (Rubus fruit) together with Gouqizi (Goji berry), Tusizi (Cuscuta seed), Wuweizi (Schisandra fruit), and Cheqianzi (Plantago seed). Make into pills and take. For kidney-deficiency enuresis and frequent urination (empirical formula) Take Fupenzi with Sangpiaoxiao (Mantis egg-case), Yizhiren (Alpinia fruit), and Buguzhi (Psoralea fruit). Decoct in water or make into pills and take. For liver-kidney deficiency with blurred vision (empirical formula) Take Fupenzi with Gouqizi, Sangshenzi (Mulberry fruit), and Tusizi. Decoct in water or make into pills and take. For consolidating essence and reducing urination (empirical formula) Take Fupenzi with Shayuanzi (Astragalus seed), Jinyingzi (Rosa fruit), and Shanzhuyu (Cornus fruit). Decoct in water or make into pills and take. For infantile enuresis and frequent night urination in the elderly (empirical formula) Take Fupenzi with Sangpiaoxiao. Decoct in water or make into pills and take. For kidney-deficiency low back pain with cold intolerance and cold feet (empirical formula) Take Fupenzi with Duzhong (Eucommia bark). Decoct in water or soak in wine and drink.
