Indications

Uterine prolapse, vaginitis, prostatitis, dysmenorrhea, lower abdominal pain, vaginal itching, spermatorrhea, hernia, knee joint pain, irregular menstruation, impotence, and difficult urination.

Precise Location

On the medial knee, in the depression posterior to the medial condyle of the femur, anterior to the insertion of the semitendinosus and semimembranosus tendons, at the medial end of the popliteal crease when the knee is flexed.

Location Method

Sit with the knee flexed. Place the palm on the lateral thigh with the thumb on the knee, bring the index and middle fingers together at the medial end of the popliteal crease – the point is where the middle fingertip rests.

Massage Method

Bring the four fingers together and knead from bottom to top – a distending, sore, and painful sensation will occur. Apply to both sides for 3–5 minutes each, left first then right, or simultaneously. Therapeutic actions: Regulates menstruation and stops leukorrhea, clears and drains damp-heat, unblocks and regulates the lower jiao, and relaxs the sinews and unblocks the collaterals.

Efficacy & Actions

A popular folk song describes this point: "For dysmenorrhea, uterine prolapse, lower abdominal pain, vaginal itching, and spermatorrhea – acupuncture and massage at Ququan treat these ailments and promote longevity." This accurately reflects the efficacy of Ququan. It is a commonly used point for dysmenorrhea, uterine prolapse, vaginal itching, vulvar pain, prostatitis, spermatorrhea, knee joint pain, and hernia – regular massage provides significant relief. This point belongs to the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian and is the He-Sea point where the meridian qi enters (corresponding to the Water element in the five-element theory). It regulates menstruation and stops leukorrhea, clears and drains damp-heat, unblocks and regulates the lower jiao, and relaxs the sinews and unblocks the collaterals. It is a commonly used key point for treating gynecological, male, and knee joint disorders. First documented in Lingshu · Benshu. "Qu" means curved; "Quan" means spring. Located on the medial knee in a flexed position, this point is where meridian qi gushes like a spring – hence the name Ququan (Curved Spring).
