TCM Notes

Red beans (adzuki) are well known for promoting urination and reducing swelling. Job's tears help strengthen the spleen, drain dampness, and clear heat. Hawthorn aids digestion and supports fat metabolism, while honeysuckle is a classic herb for clearing heat and soothing. This drink is a gentle, low-fat way to help your body feel lighter and more refreshed.

Suitable forThe general population can take this drink in moderation. It is especially suitable for people with signs of internal dampness (heavy limbs, brain fog, thick tongue coating, sticky stools), those prone to water retention or swelling, summer heat with irritability, poor digestion or meat overload, and those with elevated blood lipids.

Not suitable forPregnant women should completely avoid this drink (Job's tears may stimulate the uterus; hawthorn promotes blood circulation). People with a weak, cold spleen and stomach (loose stools, cold hands and feet) should not drink too much. Women should exercise caution during menstruation. It is not suitable for those with yin deficiency and extreme thirst.
