Efficacy & Actions
Shufu is the meeting point of the Foot Kidney Meridian and the Hand Pericardium Meridian, and is where kidney qi is transmitted and gathered. The Zhenjiu Tongren records that this point has "special effects for treating cough with qi counterflow, wheezing, vomiting, chest fullness, and inability to eat." For patients with persistent severe cough who cannot swallow food normally, feel nauseous after eating, and experience chest fullness with wheezing, pressing this point yields excellent results. This point belongs to the Foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian and is the meeting point of the Kidney Meridian and the Hand Jueyin Pericardium Meridian. It stops cough and relieves wheezing, harmonizes the stomach and descends rebellious qi, and soothes the chest and regulates qi. It is a commonly used key point for treating chest, lung, and digestive system disorders. First documented in Zhenjiu Jiayijing. "Shu" means to transport; "Fu" means mansion or storehouse. Located below the clavicle on the chest, this point is where Kidney Meridian qi is transported and gathered like a storehouse – hence the name Shufu (Transport Mansion).
