Indications
Irregular menstruation, enuresis (urinary incontinence), spermatorrhea, edema, lower abdominal pain, constipation, leukorrhea, and difficult urination.
Precise Location
In the lower abdomen, 2 cun below the umbilicus, 0.5 cun lateral to the anterior midline.
Location Method
Lie supine – locate 3 finger-widths (approximately 2 cun) below the umbilicus, then 0.5 cun (about half a finger-width) lateral to the midline.
Massage Method
① Massage: Press and knead with the thumb. ② Moxibustion: Apply mild-warm moxa stick. Press and knead Siman with the thumb about 200 times, or for 3–5 minutes daily, to treat lower abdominal pain, irregular menstruation, leukorrhea, and spermatorrhea. Therapeutic actions: Benefits the kidney and regulates menstruation, promotes diuresis and reduces edema, regulates qi and relieves pain.
Compatibility
Irregular menstruation, leukorrhea, spermatorrhea: Combine with Qihai (RN-6), Sanyinjiao (SP-6), Shenshu (BL-23), and Xuehai (SP-10). Enuresis: Combine with Zhongji (RN-3), Sanyinjiao (SP-6), and Pangguangshu (BL-28). Edema and difficult urination: Combine with Yinlingquan (SP-9), Shuifen (RN-9), and Sanjiaoshu (BL-22). Lower abdominal pain and constipation: Combine with Tianshu (ST-25) and Zusanli (ST-36).
Efficacy & Actions
This point belongs to the Foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian and is the meeting point of the Kidney Meridian and the Chong Vessel. It benefits the kidney and regulates menstruation, promotes diuresis and reduces edema, and regulates qi and relieves pain. It is a commonly used key point for treating gynecological, urinary, and abdominal disorders. First documented in Zhenjiu Jiayijing. "Si" means four directions or extensive; "Man" means full or replete. Located in the lower abdomen, this point is where Kidney Meridian qi is full – hence the name Siman (Four Fullness). It is also known as "Suifu" and "Suizhong."
