Efficacy & Actions

This point belongs to the Foot Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian and is the Mu-Front point of the Gallbladder, as well as the meeting point of the Gallbladder Meridian and the Foot Taiyin Spleen Meridian. It soothes the liver and benefits the gallbladder, regulates qi and harmonizes the stomach, and descends rebellious qi and stops vomiting. It is a commonly used key point for treating gallbladder and digestive system disorders. First documented in Zhenjiu Jiayijing. "Ri" refers to the sun and yang; "Yue" refers to the moon and yin. As the Mu-Front point of the Gallbladder – the Gallbladder corresponds to Wood and spring, when the sun and moon meet – hence the name Riyue (Sun and Moon). It is also known as "Shenguang."
