Efficacy & Actions

This point belongs to the Foot Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian and is the meeting point of the Gallbladder Meridian and the Belt Vessel (Dai Mai). It regulates menstruation and stops leukorrhea, regulates qi and activates blood, warms and nourishes Chong and Ren, and secures the uterus. It is a commonly used key point for treating gynecological disorders. First documented in Lingshu · Jingmai. "Dai" refers to the Belt Vessel, one of the Eight Extraordinary Vessels, which encircles the waist and binds all meridians; "Mai" means vessel. This point is associated with the Belt Vessel and regulates it – hence the name Daimai (Belt Vessel Point).

Contraindications

Located on the lateral abdomen, needling depth should be carefully controlled – generally 0.5–1 cun vertically, avoiding excessive depth to prevent internal organ injury. Use with caution in pregnant women. Moxibustion is permissible.
