Efficacy & Actions
Modern people who sit for prolonged periods at computers or desks without adequate exercise may develop poor blood circulation in the shoulders, leading to muscle stiffness and severe shoulder pain. Without proper movement, rest, and care, this can eventually cause conditions such as frozen shoulder. Regular pressing of Jianzhen can relieve shoulder pain symptoms. This point belongs to the Hand Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian. It clears the head and sharpens hearing, unblocks the meridians and collaterals, dispels wind and relieves pain. It is a commonly used point for treating shoulder-arm and head-facial disorders. First documented in Zhenjiu Jiayijing. "Jian" refers to the shoulder; "Zhen" means firm or stable. Located at the posterior aspect of the shoulder, where the upright qi of the shoulder resides – hence the name Jianzhen (Shoulder Firmness).
