Indications

Urinary retention and enuresis (urinary incontinence). This point belongs to the Foot Taiyin Spleen Meridian. It strengthens the spleen and promotes diuresis, and unblocks the lower jiao. It is a commonly used point for treating urinary system disorders. First documented in Zhenjiu Jiayijing. "Ji" means winnowing basket and is also a star name; "Men" means gate or door. Located on the medial side of the thigh, this point serves as the gateway for Spleen Meridian qi – hence the name Jimen (Winnowing Basket Gate).

Precise Location

On the medial side of the thigh, on the line connecting Xuehai (SP-10) and Chongmen (SP-12), 6 cun above Xuehai.

Location Method

Sit upright or lie supine with the lower leg extended. First locate Xuehai (SP-10, 2 cun above the medial end of the patellar base), then measure 6 cun upward along the medial thigh – the point is at the medial edge of the quadriceps femoris muscle, where firm pressure produces a distinct sore and distending sensation.

Massage Method

① Massage: Press and knead with the thumb. ② Scraping therapy: Scrape from top to bottom. Press and knead Jimen with the thumb about 200 times, or for 3–5 minutes, to treat inguinal pain. Therapeutic actions: Strengthens the spleen and promotes diuresis, unblocks the lower jiao.
