Binao Point (LI-14 / Upper Arm)

Indications
Clears heat and brightens the eyes, unblocks the meridians and collaterals. Treats scrofula (cervical lymphadenopathy), arm swelling and pain, upper limb immobility, and scapulohumeral periarthritis (frozen shoulder).
Precise Location
On the arm, 7 cun above Quchi (LI-11), at the anterior border of the deltoid muscle. Flex the elbow and clench the fist tightly to make the deltoid muscle bulge; the point is on the lower inner side of the deltoid muscle, where pressure produces a distinct sore and distending sensation.
Location Method
Flex the elbow and clench the fist to make the deltoid muscle bulge prominently. The point is located at the lower inner side of the anterior border of the deltoid muscle, where firm pressure produces obvious soreness and distension. (Alternatively, measure 7 cun straight upward from Quchi along the line toward Jianyu.)
Massage Method
① Massage: Press and knead with the thumb. ② Cupping: Apply retained cupping with a fire cup for 5–10 minutes. Pressing and kneading Binao with the thumb can prevent and treat shoulder and arm pain. Therapeutic actions: Clears heat and brightens the eyes, unblocks the meridians and collaterals.
Compatibility
Eye diseases: Combine with Fengchi (GB-20) and Jingming (BL-1). Stiff and painful neck: Combine with Qiangjian (GV-18). Cervical scrofula (lymphadenitis): Combine with Shousanli (LI-10) and Daying (ST-5).
