Efficacy & Actions
This point belongs to the Conception Vessel (Ren Mai) and is located at the 3rd intercostal space on the anterior midline of the chest. It soothes the chest and regulates qi, disperses lung qi and stops cough, calms the heart and descends rebellious qi. It is a commonly used key point for treating chest, lung, and heart disorders. First documented in Zhenjiu Jiayijing. "Yu" means jade – precious and white; "Tang" means hall or dwelling. Located on the chest, this point is the hall where heart qi gathers – hence the name Yutang (Jade Hall). It is also known as "Yuying."
