Indications

Vaginal itching, genital pain, vulvar swelling and pain, difficult urination, constipation, amenorrhea, hernia, postpartum coma, and manic disorders. This point belongs to the Conception Vessel (Ren Mai) and is the Luo-Connecting point of the Ren Mai, as well as the meeting point of the Ren, Du, and Chong Vessels. It regulates menstruation and stops leukorrhea, unblocks urination and defecation, revives the spirit and opens the orifices, and regulates qi and relieves pain. It is a key point for treating urogenital and mental disorders. First documented in Zhenjiu Jiayijing. "Hui" means meeting; "Yin" refers to the genital region. Located between the two yin orifices (genitalia and anus), this point is where the Ren, Du, and Chong Vessels meet – hence the name Huiyin (Perineum). It is also known as "Pingyi," "Xiaji," "Haidi," and "Jinmen."

Precise Location

In the perineal region – in males, at the midpoint of the line connecting the root of the scrotum and the anus; in females, at the midpoint of the line connecting the posterior commissure of the labia majora and the anus.

Location Method

Lie supine with knees flexed. At the perineal region, locate the midpoint of the line between the scrotal root and anus (male) or between the posterior labial commissure and anus (female).

Massage Method

Massage: Press and knead with the middle finger pad. Press and knead Huiyin with the middle finger pad for 1–3 minutes – a sore and distending sensation will occur, providing excellent regulatory effects for reproductive organ disorders. Therapeutic actions: Regulates menstruation and stops leukorrhea, unblocks urination and defecation, revives the spirit and opens the orifices, regulates qi and relieves pain.

Compatibility

Constipation: Combine with Zhigou (TE-6) and Shangjuxu (ST-37). Difficult urination: Combine with Zhongji (RN-3), Sanyinjiao (SP-6), and Pangguangshu (BL-28). Amenorrhea: Combine with Guanyuan (RN-4), Sanyinjiao (SP-6), and Xuehai (SP-10). Genital itching and pain: Combine with Ligou (LR-5) and Zhongji (RN-3). Hernia: Combine with Dadun (LR-1) and Guilai (ST-29). Postpartum coma: Combine with Shuigou (GV-26) and Neiguan (PC-6).

Contraindications

Located in the perineal region – strict disinfection is required for needling, generally 0.5–1 cun vertically. Use with caution or avoid in pregnant women. Moxibustion is permissible but rarely used.
