Indications
Metrorrhagia (uterine bleeding), leukorrhea, irregular menstruation, abdominal pain, persistent postpartum lochiorrhea, lower abdominal distension, hernia, and difficult urination.
Precise Location
In the lower abdomen, 1 cun below the umbilicus, on the anterior midline – 1 finger-width below the center of the umbilicus.
Location Method
Lie supine. On the anterior midline, measure 1 finger-width (approximately 1 cun) downward from the center of the umbilicus – that is the point.
Massage Method
Massage: Press and knead with the thumb. Press and knead Yinjiao with the thumb about 200 times, or for 3–5 minutes, to treat irregular menstruation and abdominal pain. Therapeutic actions: Regulates menstruation and stops leukorrhea, regulates qi and relieves pain, regulates Chong and Ren.
Compatibility
Abdominal pain: Combine with Qihai (RN-6). Metrorrhagia and irregular menstruation: Combine with Guanyuan (RN-4), Sanyinjiao (SP-6), and Xuehai (SP-10). Leukorrhea: Combine with Daimai (GB-26) and Sanyinjiao (SP-6). Persistent postpartum lochiorrhea: Combine with Qihai (RN-6) and Sanyinjiao (SP-6).
Efficacy & Actions
This point belongs to the Conception Vessel (Ren Mai) and is the meeting point of the Ren Mai and the Chong Vessel, as well as the meeting point of the Foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian and the Ren Mai. It regulates menstruation and stops leukorrhea, regulates qi and relieves pain, and regulates Chong and Ren. It is a commonly used key point for treating gynecological and abdominal disorders. First documented in Zhenjiu Jiayijing. "Yin" refers to the yin meridians and the genital region; "Jiao" means meeting or intersection. Located 1 cun below the umbilicus, this point is where the Ren Mai, Chong Vessel, and Kidney Meridian intersect – hence the name Yinjiao (Yin Intersection). It is also known as "Shaoguan" and "Henghu."
