Efficacy & Actions

This point belongs to the Foot Taiyang Bladder Meridian. It clears the head and disperses wind, unblocks the collaterals and relieves pain. It is a commonly used point for treating head and neck disorders. First documented in Zhenjiu Jiayijing. "Yu" means jade – precious and hard; "Zhen" means pillow, referring to the occipital bone. Located beside the occipital bone at the back of the head, where the head is precious – hence the name Yuzhen (Jade Pillow).
