Indications
Dispels wind and benefits the mouth and teeth. Treats deviation of the mouth corner and aphonia (hoarseness or loss of voice). This point belongs to the Foot Yangming Stomach Meridian. It dispels wind and unblocks collaterals, and benefits the mouth and teeth. It is a commonly used point for treating facial, oral, dental, and throat disorders. First documented in Lingshu · Hanre Bing. "Da" means great or large; "Ying" means to welcome or receive. Located in front of the mandibular angle at the pulsation of the facial artery, where stomach meridian qi and blood are abundant and receive grain qi – hence the name Daying (Great Welcome).
Precise Location
On the face, anterior to the mandibular angle, in the depression at the anterior border of the masseter muscle attachment, at the pulsation of the facial artery.
Location Method
Sit upright with the mouth closed and puff out the cheeks – there is a depression in front of and below the mandibular angle; the point is where pulsation can be felt at the lower end of this depression.
Massage Method
① Massage: Press and knead with the thumb or middle finger. ② Scraping therapy: Gently massage with the corner of a scraping board. ③ Moxibustion: Apply mild-warm moxa stick. Press and knead Daying with the thumb or middle finger about 200 times, or for 3–5 minutes, to treat facial paralysis, trismus (locked jaw), and toothache. Therapeutic actions: Dispels wind and unblocks collaterals, benefits the mouth and teeth.

Toothache: Combine with Jiache (ST-6) and Xiaguan (ST-7).
