Indications
Constipation, lower abdominal pain, spermatorrhea, premature ejaculation, impotence, hernia, and difficult urination. This point belongs to the Foot Yangming Stomach Meridian. It regulates qi and reduces distension, unblocks the water passages, and tonifies the kidney and secures essence. It is a commonly used point for treating abdominal and urogenital disorders. First documented in Zhenjiu Jiayijing. "Da" means great or large; "Ju" means huge. Located in the lower abdomen, 2 cun below the umbilicus and 2 cun lateral to the midline, where Stomach Meridian qi converges in a broad area – hence the name Daju (Great Mound). It is also known as "Yemen" and "Yemen" (note: variant of "Liquid Gate").
Precise Location
In the lower abdomen, 2 cun below the umbilicus (center of the navel) and 2 cun lateral to the anterior midline.
Location Method
Lie supine. Measure 2 cun downward from the umbilicus (Shenque, RN-8) and 2 cun lateral to the anterior midline – the point is where firm pressure produces a distinct sore and distending sensation.
Massage Method
Massage: Press and knead with the thumb or the palm root. Press and knead Daju with the thumb or palm root about 200 times, or for 3–5 minutes, to treat lower abdominal pain and difficult urination. Therapeutic actions: Regulates qi and reduces distension, unblocks the water passages, tonifies the kidney and secures essence.
Compatibility
Difficult urination: Combine with Zhongji (RN-3) and Ciliao (BL-32).
